In the past Joël Lamoureux did not resemble a fit, healthy person. For that matter he weighed in at just under 600 pounds. He was obese and he was tired. He was tired of being judged, tired of the battle and simply just tired of being tired. At one point he had even contemplated suicide.
However, it was not until his immense weight forced his kneecap to dislocate and bend in half that he really took the weight issue seriously. He knew it was more than just losing the weight. He needed to heal, and become self-aware to beat his addiction.
Weighing in today at "healthy" Joël's desire is to help those who don't have issues with addiction to understand those that do and to inspire, motivate and educate those with addiction issues to make the changes they need, to be healthy.
